Description

Parents, school heads and school safety personnel are invited to join representatives from local precincts, Director of Patrol Operations for the NYPD's School Safety Division, and other invited guests to discuss conditions concerning the safety of your children, school, and community and share solutions.

This conference, which will include break out sessions with members of your individual precinct, will focus on:

  • Incident reports received through the Schools Unite Network (SUN) from parents, youth, school staff and others. Please send any incidents you would like discussed at the conference, anonymously, if you wish to http://sunnyc.org/report-incident-resourceinformation-request
  • Sharing solutions and best practices to help prevent and address safety concerns, including bullying, robberies, and area hotspots based upon information received by SUN
  • Helping determine how to allocate resources most effectively based on information shared by you and others which may also require updating SUN’s online safety maps- with locations and schedules of parent patrols, crossing guards and police-patrolled safe corridors

..And meet the NEW Commanding Officer of the Upper East Side's 19th Precinct, Deputy Inspector Grant, the NEW School Safety Sergeant from the 24th Precinct's Upper West Side, Sgt. Cuadrado, and get to know other leaders in the NYPD in Manhattan North who work to help keep your children and neighborhood safe.

An important adjunct to SUN’s technology-based platform, SUN conferences enable your school and parents to foster closer relationships with local law enforcement, by providing parents and security personnel with face-to face exchanges with police.

We recommend that each school designate two parent safety representatives to attend the conferences and act as liaisons between the Schools Unite Network (SUN) and their school. There is no charge to attend this conference.

Our thanks to Hunter College Campus Schools, a SUN member institiution,

for generously providing refreshments and hosting this event!
